I have lots of yarn leftover from my sweater so I thought I would make a matching headband with the lace pattern. It was really easy and I knit it up in less than an hour. Here’s how I made it.
US 8/ 5 mm knitting needles. I used DPNs as straight needles
Worsted weight yarn
CO 11 sts.
Row 1: K3, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K3
Row 2 and 4: K2, P7, K2
Row 3: K2, K2tog, YO, K3, YO, SSK, K2
Repeat until headband is 16 inches long, or to fit snugly around your head. It should be noted that the lace pattern stretches quite a bit so make sure to keep it short. Use 3 needle Bind off or simply bind off and seam 2 ends together.

I have just landed on your blog today and I am sorry for you that your last entry felt negative. I thought it was very honest and well worded. Actually I cannot believe people would ask you to knit for charity. Your time is very valuable. I am new to ravelry and feel like a kid in a candy shop. I am saving lots of patterns to the library but I doubt I will actually knit. But I find it helps me to get movtivated and usually steers me in my next project. I love reading the notes the designer has writtern as to what motivated the design. I have read some of your recent blogs and it does not seem like you are bragging at all. You are documenting life which is truly a gift. Reading anothers experience help me to validate my own experience and makes me realize how human we really are. I have a question about the 3 needle bind off. I like this bind of because it is a lot cleaner than seaming the ends together, but the only way I know how is with 2 working ends. With this the cast on end isn’t on the needle any more. Am I missing something and there is a way to do this? Please help.
I pick up live stitches on the other end as I go. I hold the right sides together, pick up a stitch on the finished border, place it in front of the live stitch on the needle, K2tog. I pick up another, place it in front of the next live stitch, K2tog, then BO the first stitch. This is all done with the same working strand of yarn. You could also pick up stitches with another ball of yarn if that would work better for you.

What is “SSK” ? I made the headband months ago and brought out the pattern to make some more, but have forgotten the term. Please help.
Slip slip knit. Slip 1 knit wise, slip 1 knit wise, knit slipped stitches together through the back loop. 1 stitch decreased.
I’m counting 13 sts in the 1st row. So CO 13 sts?
If so, how do I change row 2 and 4 to compensate for this? I’ve tried a few things and it’s not looking like your pattern in the photo.
